What is it about Israel that the citizens of the US feel the need to defend nationally?  I do not understand this need to defend and befriend Israel, to the exclusion of anyone who is not friends with Israel.  And there are many, many different aspects of this discussion that I’m sure I’ll have to bring up but the convolution of the subject may very well be too great for me to discuss in a single post.  So I’ll start writing my thoughts on this subject in a set of posts instead of a single, lengthy, post.

Here is the structure that I will attempt to follow:

1. Why the love affair with Israel?
   1. Religious reasons?
   2. Zionism? Is it real?
2. What is really happening?
3. What should be happening?

I will attempt to go through this in an some sort of logical ethical manner and it is meant to be commentary, not fact; my own thoughts and my own opinions.
